John Christopher Miles (1837 - 1911) was active/lived in Massachusetts, New Brunswick / Canada.  John Miles is known for Landscape and still-life painting.

John Christopher Miles, 1837-1911, was born in St John, New Brunswick. He began his studies in 1866 at the Lowell Institute in Boston and continued later under Benjamin Champney. He was a member of the Boston Art Club for eleven years and kept a studio in Boston, while living in Malden, MA . He was also a member of the Association of the Royal Canadian Academy. In the summer of 1874 he visited the salon of the famed poet Celia Thaxter at the Isles of Shoals in Rye, New Hampshire. There he painted with Childe Hassam, William Trost Richards and Arthur Quartley.

He is known for his White Mountain landscapes including "Echo Lake at Franconia Notch" and "By the Boathouse At Echo Lake" and also for the seascape "Moonrise at the Isles of Shoals" 1874. After 1877, his landscapes are of New Brunswick where he operated the Saint John Academy of Art between 1885 and 1896.
